Rhea has held a life-long interest in women’s health. Her first experience in the birthing community began in 1998, as a student intern of homebirth midwife Peggy Sawyer (1952-2003), pioneer of Trillium Midwifery Care in Southern Oregon.
Shortly thereafter, Rhea interned for a year with herbalist and herb shop owner Lindi Hobongwana in Ashland, OR. Working under Lindi’s supervision, Rhea specialized in healing herbal salves, such as Everything Better Balm and Belly Butter (good for stretch marks). After several years of travel and adventure throughout Central America and Oregon, Rhea has returned to her passion for women’s health sciences.
In May of 2008 she completed birth doula training under the instruction of Jesse Henderson at Mother Tree Birth Services in Portland, OR. She is currently fulfilling requirements for certification through DONA International while completing a Bachelors of Science degree at Portland State University.
